Safe web norton review
No response, no action. They are "working on it. Makes no difference that I have been 25 year customer. I have multiple websites this useless feature rated as dangerous. Every other expert tools verifies correctly. Most funniest one is one of the we page which has blank index. Html also rated as "known dangerous website" I have disputed all these wrong rating more than 10 times in last 1 year. Nothing has changed. So this is definitely useless wrong tool to use. You need to buy a security certificate from any seller and then have someone switch over your website.
No more problems and no way to get around it. All browsers are looking for this added layer of protection now. My website was suddenly flagged as suspicious. I spent two hours on chat trying to find out what the "annoyance", not threat, was that caused the flag.
I was told their engineers would need weeks to review it, given a case number with no place to check it, and cannot use my site properly. Absolutely horrible service and unacceptable practices.
These flags mean nothing! Randomly decides that sites rated otherwise safe eg by Google , I contacted Norton as I could not find an option to add sites to an exclusion list to be advised by Norton customer service that there is no exclusion list and the ONLY solution is to remove safeweb from the browser. Also the "continue to site" link would not work, Norton customer service only response to that was 'you shouldn't be visiting these sites'.
Just downloaded it and then printed various documents. Printed on each page of the document was "Thank you for using Norton Safe Web! Share usage etc etc" The 3 line message was too high to show on the web page so didn't see it.
After I noticed it I could not scroll higher to show the full message and delete. My next step was to delete the extension. Norton is the only security service blocking my website and even though i went over the long and exhausting process of cleaning everything they listed for cleaning, installing Norton file in the root of my webpage, installing the security certificate and waiting for a few weeks for the verification, without any feedback from Norton, it is still reporting that the website is not safe and scaring 1 of my visitors that is using Norton security.
It looks like a sadistic joke, creating an issue with absolutely no reason. My website is a architecture portfolio website built with WordPress template and it carries no threat what so ever for nobody. Our side is hacked and they put in a blacklist, we have cleaned up but they are not taking care of the request google and all parties are cleaned up but norton does not care.
An overall good idea but Norton needs to keep up with all the websites that are bad and block them better because I use the DNS service. Norton has blacklisted my site, but after numerous chats and calls will not tell me what caused it to be flagged.
Some vague identity threat was all they will say, but I have no visitor input or comment areas--strictly an informational, one-way site. To add insult to injury they want me to put a piece of their code on my site. A security company that wants you contaminate your site, really? Scans sites, flags them as 'unsafe' even though Google etc. Register the site with Norton and click on their report and it says there are no issues but it still shows as Unsafe I keep getting reminders to install.
Ive read the instructions and it is above my skill level. Ive days left on my subscription, i won't be renewing at that point. I don't know if this is not compatible with Macs or what but literally every time I boot up my system I get an annoying popup that says i need to install the system. When I try, it asks to reboot my computer.
After re-booting, the same thing happens again. I'm going to try to uninstall it. I fix broken websites for a living. Norton Safe Web on the other hand is a night mare to deal with. Often weeks and months go by to no avail and their de-listing seems to go to a black hole. I wish I could give it 0 stars, but 1 star is the minimum. Norton Safe Web Plus is an annoyance which pops up and asks to be installed every time my Mac boots.
When I installed it, it blocked all internet access. Do not let this program install on your Mac. They concocted this 'Safe Web' gimmick with the blessing of Google to force people to join them or else they will not put their green symbol on your website. This is just an angle to make more money by forced memberships.
It is the most discriminatory stuff I have seen on the internet and Google allows it! The pricing structure on the products page gives a breakdown of the features gained at each level. There is also a guide for what the equivalent was in the old system. However, getting malware protection for only one computer that has tight limits of features, like the cloud backup, means this option can be beaten by some of the best free antivirus software on the market.
When looking at the more advanced Norton options, the Norton Deluxe seems to be the best value for most people. This means you can utilize the addition of parental control to choose what each device can do. Norton Deluxe also grows the cloud storage capacity to 50GB, which is significantly more useful than the 10GB provided by Norton Standard. The more expensive end includes LifeLock protection. Although this makes up for having no free trial, the lack of a free version will be a problem for some.
Those who want a free alternative might prefer software like Avast Pro. Upon subscribing to one of the plans, you get an option to download the installer. This does almost everything on its own to install Norton, and it only stopped to ask us to remove an antivirus software that was still on the computer. This is because different antiviruses can interfere with each other.
This gives good access for setting up cloud storage, the password manager and the scanning options. You can also set it to display the classic launcher on startup. This window makes more obscure settings and features, like the disk cleanup, more accessible. This is great for regular scans or for running a preset backup.
However, when looking through the settings menus, things stop being so clear. Norton has lists of settings that can be difficult to understand at a glance. Norton offers three scan types. In the screen where you can choose which scan to run, other options are available that may be useful. This can show you what programs Norton deems as high risk. This only took seven minutes and scanned 10, items, and it was capable of finding threats in locations malware often hides, without slowing the computer down.
This means running the scan should find any threats that are hiding. However, you cannot drag and drop files, so you have to go through a file browser and select what it will scan. Running a custom scan is a quick way to regularly check a small selection of folders.
However, it takes some time to set it up, so one-time scans are better off as quick scans. When a scan is running, there is an option underneath the progress bar to turn off the computer after the scan is complete.
You also have the option to sleep or hibernate the computer, which is nice to have. Norton may have a great set of features and a decent display, but what matters is that the Norton antivirus can protect your computer. AV-Test found that Norten blocked all of the threats with no false positives in November and December of Next up was AV-Comparatives. First, we checked the WICAR website, which contains 13 links to pages that antivirus software should block as malware.
Norton blocked all five of the uncompressed files. The test that downloaded 10 compressed files had only three files successfully download, which is better than most antiviruses. According to these tests, Norton is successful in protecting computers. If you are concerned about your antivirus protecting your device from every possible attack, our Bitdefender Antivirus review may give a good alternative.
Despite having some excellent protection results, Norton seems to significantly slow down scanning if too many other processes are running. It consistently tried to keep about 20 percent of our processing power, although it will use everything available if the computer is idling.
This is worth considering if your devices are old or normally slow. You will get a refund of your Norton subscription if the experts are unable to fix your device. This is not a suitable replacement for reliable protection, but on a product that already keeps your device safe, it is a nice thing to have.
Norton has a wide variety of support options. The knowledgebase covers many of the common problems that may occur. There are step-by-step guides for most issues, as well as a list of common follow-up questions. Some of the knowledgebase questions have small video tutorials. These are slow and hard to focus on, but they do provide plenty of information and can help with the more complicated issues that may occur.
Norton also has a forum page that has some activity. I don't have a check - green or other on my browser. It is not working. Worthless, will block non malicious sites, and cancel downloads for reason Don't waste your time Don't force users to install and enable this extension just to satisfy Norton Security.
If this isn't resolved, you've at least lost me as a customer. Way too many false positives for "known dangerous sites". It happened today, and two days ago would not allow me to log onto my OneDrive account even though I had been on it within the past 30 minutes.
